I am curious as to how we are going to get the needed technological infrastructure in place to accommodate all the computer requirements. A worthwhile resource to help move this along is provided by Apple, “Getting Started: A Guide for Your Apple MacBook Learning Lab” ("Getting started: A," n. d.). This guide will help me develop protocol to alleviate student and staff concern and provide a path of least resistance for ease in adoption. I would like to look for resources that will facilitate the Common Core adoption process going on in our District.
I have initiated the process for meetings with district technology staff and our site principal to find out if the new equipment, software and word processors are installed and in place prior to the first day of school. I spoke with the English department Chair, and we are excited about how the new computers will improve performance tasks and portfolios and improvements in how we assess students in the alternative setting already. We feel the technology will cut down on the paper and pencil testing and writing processes and provide quality interaction between students and teachers.
